Think outside the box! Inspire creativity and teamwork through construction.
Students rotate through a range of construction challenges, follow procedures and use their imagination to create wild designs! Through a mix of individual and team orientated activities, students draw upon their creative side to explore STEM and design concepts. Our Brickworks program has continued to grow and encompass a variety of themes including; communities, dinosaurs, space and more!
Perfect for class celebrations such as 100 days of Prep and special ‘buddy’ events.
Activities
While rotating through 4 stations, students:
- collaboratively design a community or landscape, identifying key features through construction and dress ups
- work in pairs to discuss and construct various models by following a set task brief
- think critically to design and build models of people or elements that fits the session’s theme
- discuss, design and build a vehicle suited to the theme of the session.
Scope of Learning
Together we’ll select the learning outcomes that best suit your class and grade level curriculum requirements. Examples include:
- Understand what a community is and the groups of people that belong within that community
- Understand how the dynamics of problem-solving influence teamwork
- Identify the fundamental elements of communication and getting along with others
- Apply new communication strategies to understand the needs of others
- Identify how showing encouragement and support builds trust.
